Police Blotter: Bank Fraud, No Child Support Payments

SATURDAY, AUG. 4

Check scam halted

Police are investigating a complaint of check fraud filed at 500 block of West Route 30. According to the report, someone wrote an unauthorized check for $5,000 and cashed it without her permission.

Suspended license

Martin Sigwerth, 47, of Lockport, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license after he was stopped during a random registration check just before 8 a.m. in the 1400 block of Route 6.

Speakers damaged at the Village Commons

Police say someone damaged the outside speakers at the Village Commons area in the 100 block of Veterans Parkway. A criminal damage to property complaint was filed.

Vehicle damaged

Someone damaged a car parked in the 2900 block of Doxbury Lane.

FRIDAY, AUG. 3

Bank fraud foiled

A bank teller at Old Second Bank in the 900 block of East Route 30 spotted what appeared to be a fraudulent check. At 2:40 p.m. Aug. 3, New Lenox police were notified because someone attempted to cash check for approximately $900.

Garage door damaged

Police were called to the 600 block of oxford Lane after it was discovered that a door on the side of the garage as damaged. The amount of damage validated a criminal damage to property complaint.

Ticket issued

Regina Joshi, 38, Chicago, was ticketed for driving on a suspended license after a random registration check by police in the vicinity of Cedar Road and Otto Drive.

Inside wall damaged

Police say a criminal damage to property complaint was filed after a resident of the 2500 block of Daniel Lewis Drive spotted damage to a wall inside the house. 

Traffic violations

Ryan Sepanski, 25, of Joliet, was ticketed after a random registration check in the area of Route 6 and Silver Cross Boulevard. He was stopped issued citations for driving on a suspended license and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Theft arrest

Victoria Sparger, 62, of Manhattan, was charged with retail theft. According to the report, officials at the Target store in the 2300 block of East Route 30 complained that she had taken a variety of merchandise, the value of which was about $100, without paying for them.

Failure to pay child support

Char Darley, 36, of Troy, was stopped by police for speeding in the area of Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 30. Police discovered an outstanding Will County warrant for failure to pay child support. He was taken to Will County jail.
