Police Blotter: 2 Residents Charged With DUIs; Go-Cart Stolen

New Lenox police reports, Oct. 7-10.

SUNDAY, OCT. 9

DUI Alleged

Brian G. Short, 38, of the 800 block of Somerset Street in New Lenox, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police said he ran a red light and made an improper turn on West Maple Street at about 8 p.m. He was given tickets for the traffic violations and posted bond for the DUI charge.

Cars Damaged

Someone damaged two cars parked in street in the 300 block of Monterey Drive.

SATURDAY, OCT. 8

Go-Cart Getaway

A Go-Cart was stolen from an open garage in the 600 block of Southgate Road. The cart was valued at $350.

DUI Alleged

Rory G. Witte, 25, of the 1800 block of Cornell Drive in New Lenox, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and the failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Police were called to a car accident at Joliet Highway and Westwind Drive at about 5:16 p.m., and while questioning drivers police determined Witte had been drinking. He was given a traffic ticket and posted bond.

Shopping Cart Stolen

Someone stole a $200 grocery cart from the parking lot at Berkot's Super Foods in the 2100 block of Calistoga Drive.

FRIDAY, OCT. 7

Credit Card Fraud

A New Lenox resident told police someone used personal credit card information to make multiple purchases overseas.

License Violations

  • Tara Nobles, 35, of Joliet, was charged with driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance after police randomly ran her license plates near the Interstate 355/Route 6 interchange. She was given traffic tickets.
  • Chiquitta R. Bailey, 30, of Romeoville, was charged with driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance after police randomly ran her license plates near Gougar Road and Lightning Court. She was given traffic tickets.
  • Arnold D. Guevera, 36, of Joliet, was charged with driving with a suspended license after police randomly ran his license plates near Cherry Hill Road and Melrose Street. He was given a traffic ticket.
