Police Blotter: $12K Check-Kiting Scheme, More Fraud

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 21

Video Game Theft

Michael G. Spencer, 23, of the 2300 block of Palmer Ranch Drive, was booked into county jail and charged with theft. Police said it was in connection to a Feb. 19 theft in which Spencer is accused of taking video games from a relative's home.

Fraud

A New Lenox resident told police that someone made unusual transactions using his bank account. Police did not know the amount of money spent.

eBay Theft

A resident said she ordered an item on eBay, but she never received it. The website showed that the item was already delivered but wasn't at the home.

Window Broken

Someone broke a balcony window of a home in the 200 block of Oak Street, causing an alarm to sound.

Suspended License

Valentino Lurgio, 43, of Joliet, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license and no front license plate.

TUESDAY, MARCH 20

Fraud

A New Lenox resident said someone used his debit card information to make about $1,600 in fraudulent purchases.

Suspended License

John Robinette, 52, of Joliet, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license after police randomly ran his plates near Washington Street and Wintree Lane.

MONDAY, MARCH 19

Check Fraud

Judith A. Johnson, 60, of Joliet, was arrested by New Lenox police and charged with theft in connection to a fraud case dating back to October 2011. Police say Johnson was involved in a check kiting scheme in which she withdrew about $12,000 from a bank account using fraudulent information. Her bail was set at $2,000.
