PHOTOS: Reader Captures Bad Accident on I-80

A New Lenox Patch reader spotted an accident involving a truck Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The driver involved in a rollover truck accident Tuesday has been released from the hospital, a reader close to the situation said.

At about 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, a waste management truck's tire blew out while it was heading west on Interstate 80. The truck flipped through the median near the Gougar Road overpass and landed in the eastbound lanes.

spokeswoman Erika Leader said the driver was injured but in stable condition when he was extracted from the truck and taken to the hospital. The New Lenox Fire District responded to the accident with the East Joliet Fire Department.

According to a reader whose husband works with the the driver, he was released from the hospital with 12 staples in the back of his head.
