Police are searching for a man accused of setting a fire at a New Lenox rental property he was evicted from, according to the Will County Sheriff's office.
Brandon Boltz, 26, of the 5800 block of Corey Lane of Oak Forest, is wanted on a charge of arson stemming from a March 31 house fire.
Authorities said a state fire marshal determined an accelerant was used to fuel a blaze in the 15000 block of West Maple Road in New Lenox.
Boltz was evicted from the New Lenox rental property in July 2012, according to Will County Sheriff's records. The eviction case was resolved in October of that year.
The landlord told police he spotted Boltz near the house, who claimed he was looking for someone, said Will County Sheriff spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer. Shortly after the conversation, smoke was seen pouring out of the house. The fire caused "moderate to heavy" damage.
The warrant for Boltz's arrest was issued on Wednesday. Bail was set at $250,000.
Boltz was booked into Will County jail in 2008 but the charge stemming from that incarceration was not available in Sheriff's records.
