NL Man Settles Wrongful Death Suit Related to Fiery Car Crash that Killed Passenger
Kevin Krohn, 23, New Lenox, is accused of driving drunk when he crashed his car, killing 22-year-old Jake Stevens of Manhattan.
A lawsuit filed in December 2012, about four months after the crash on Steger Road at 104th Avenue in Frankfort Township, was settled for $250,000 in damages, the Sun-Times Media reported.
Stevens' mother, Kim Stevens, was offered a settlement last month.
Jake Stevens, 22, Manhattan, was a passenger in a car driven by Krohn when he was killed. According to police, Krohn told them he jerked the steering wheel and lost control of his car in the wee hours of the morning on Aug. 25, 2012, on Steger Road at 104th Avenue. When the car left the road, it reportedly struck an obstruction and minutes later burst into flames.

Krohn is scheduled to appear Aug. 8 in Will County Court on charges of aggravated DUI.
