New Lenox Woman Told Cops Drugs Smell Was a Skunk

Mokena Police charged Jennifer L. O'Leary, 19, of New Lenox, with possession of marijuana.

Jennifer L. O'Leary, 19, of the 800 block of Bristol Lane in New Lenox was charged with speeding, possesion of cannabis, possesion of drug equipment, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, Mokena police said.

According to the report, an officer saw O'Leary travelling at 59 mph in a 30 mph zone. The officer stopped her and asked if she had been smoking cannabis. O'Leary replied that she had run over a skunk earlier in the day. The officer again smelled cannabis from O'Leary's clothes and alcohol from her breath.

O'Leary later failed field sobriety tests. A search of the car and her purse found a bong, two pipes wih cannabis residue, and a small bag with a pill bottle containing cannabis.

She posted a $1,000 I-bond for the misdemeanor charges amd $100 credit card bond for the DUI, pending a June 15 court date in Joliet. O'Leary had a 15 year old female passanger who was cited for violating curfew and turned over to her grandfather.
