New Lenox Residents Charged With DUI Accident, Underage Drinking in Orland

Orland Park police say Daniel J. Ryan, 18, of the 21400 block of Covey Court, caused a two-car accident Jan. 27 on La Grange Road.

Daniel J. Ryan, 18, of the 21400 block of Covey Court in New Lenox, was charged with a DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid accident, driving in the wrong lane, disobeying traffic control light and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Police said Ryan was driving west on 151st Street around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 27 when his truck crossed lanes, drove over a sidewalk, struck a fire hydrant and then hit the passenger side of another car on La Grange Road. According to the report, he had difficulty speaking and standing, but mustered a dance during the field sobriety tests. Police said they found several bottles of prescription pills in his car.

Orland Fire Protection District paramedics t0ok Ryan and two individuals to Palos Hospital for inspection, police said. One of those individuals was later taken to Rush University Medical Center for a fractured neck, according to the report.

Police said the car Ryan struck spun around 360 degrees.

Underage Drinking

Michael T. Ramsay, 19, of the 2100 block of Arthurs Pass in New Lenox, was charged Jan. 28 with illegal consumption of alcohol. Security at Arctic Ice Arena told police that Ramsay took a swing at one of the hockey players around 9 p.m. He was transported to Palos Community Hospital because of his high level of intoxication, according to the report.
