The identities of two New Lenox men were recently snatched.

First, about 4 p.m. Thursday, an officer met at the police station with a man who told how his personal information was used to "open an account with a financial institution too purchase a car," police said.

Then, shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday, an officer went to the 700 block of Schoolgate Road where a man told him an "unknown person used his identity to file a fraudulent tax return," police said.

Both cases were sent to the New Lenox Police Department's investigations division for review.

This is a joke! My identity was stolen and the detective told me there were more important problems like heroin in our town.

This is a very frequent occurrence in this town and should be a priority. No taxpayer paid employee should ever tell a citizen their crime is not a priority.
