THURSDAY, AUG. 16

House burglar nets laptop and cell phone

Police were called to the 1800 block of Cornell Drive when the owner discovered a laptop and cell phone were stolen from the house. Police are investigating.

Groceries stolen from Walmart

Walmart officials filed a retail theft complaint. According the report, someone left the store located in the 500 block of East Route 30 without paying for groceries.

Car burglary

Police say a report was filed indicating that someone broke into a vehicle parked in the 800 block of Bristol Lane and stole about $100. The vehicle was unlocked.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 15

Cell phone stolen

Police say a woman notified them that while she was shopping at Walmart in the 500 block of E. Route 30 someone stole a cell phone from her purse. 

Expired registration leads to arrest for failure to appear

Robert Gleason, 50, of the 100 block of Kalarama Drive, was stopped by police for an expired vehicle registration in the 300 block of W. Route 30. Police discovered an outstanding warrant as well. He posted bond for both violations and was released.

Driving on a suspended license

William Mills, 45, of Joliet, was ticketed for operating an uninsured vehicle and for driving on a suspended license in the 1800 block of Route 30. He was issued tickets.

TUESDAY, AUG. 14

Oklahoma warrant served

John Sodomire, 31, of Beecher, was taken to the Will County Jail on an outstanding warrant for his arrest stemming from an alleged incident in Major County, OK. Police say they were asked by the Major County District Attorney's Office to check on information that Sodomire might be living in New Lenox. Police went to the address and learned that he had moved to Beecher, where he was taken into custody. He awaits transfer to Oklahoma.

Marijuana charge

Jose Pena, 19, of Joliet, was stopped in his car during a random registration check in the area of Route 6 and Farrell Road. Police discovered that he was driving on a suspended license and learned that he was also driving an uninsured vehicle. Police say they found about 4 grams of marijuana. He was ticketed for traffic violations and issued a notice to appear for the possession charge.

Construction site targeted for theft

Police say they were called to a construction site in the 2700 block of Northern Lights and accepted a complaint that insulation material was stolen from the site. The value of the material was not listed. 

Retail theft

Police were called to the 500 block of E. Route 30, where Walmart officials filed a complaint that someone left the store without paying for about $30 worth of merchandise.
