New Lenox Man Talking on Cell & High on Pot & Driving: Cops

A New Lenox man got caught talking on his cell while driving and a cop smelled marijuana coming from the car, police said.

It's against the law to use a handheld cellphone while driving. It's also against the law to drive while you're high. And a New Lenox man was doing both of those things early Sunday morning, police said.

Tyler Richards, 20, of 732 Vanderbilt Drive was pulled over about 12:45 a.m. near the intersection of Laraway and Schoolhouse roads. He was charged with the illegal use of a cell phone while driving, driving under the influence, possession of cannabis and possession of drug equipment.

A police officer reportedly noticed Richards using a cell phone while driving and pulled him over.
