New Lenox Man Stopped For Speeding Goes to Jail on Drug Charge

The New Lenox man's bond was set at $30,000.

A New Lenox man was jailed on a drug charge after he was pulled over for speeding Wednesday.

Erek Powell, 39, of 2016 Digby Drive was arrested shortly after noon near the corner of Fairfield Drive and Haven Avenue.

An "officer observed a vehicle speeding and disobey a traffic control device and conducted a stop," police said. "The officer discovered that the driver, Powell, had a suspended license and was in possession of a controlled substance."

Powell allegedly had a fentanyl Patch.

Powell was taken to the Will County jail. He remained in custody Wednesday and was being held in lieu of $30,000 bond.
