New Lenox Man Arrested After Neighbor Says He Threatened to Skin Her With Machete

The New Lenox man was charged with aggravated assault and criminal damage to property, but a neighbor said he was back again soon after he was released from custody.

A New Lenox man allegedly threatened to skin his neighbors with a machete and burn their house down.

Adam Nelson, 30, of 2775 Daniel Lewis Drive was charged with aggravated assault and criminal damage to property in connection with the July 12 incident on Kingsway Avenue.

Nelson was released on bond and a neighbor said he returned to drive by her home and stared at her soon after he was taken away by police.

The neighbor said Nelson was arrested when he showed up at her house armed with a machete, according to a petition she wrote for a protective order.

"Adam got to our house and I saw a machete in his hands," the woman wrote in her petition. "We got back into the house. Adam was standing in our driveway yelling that he was going to skin us and that he was going to burn our house down. He was banging the machete on my son's car."

The woman said she called the cops on Nelson more than once.

"The police have told me Adam is an alcoholic but this is not an excuse for him coming to my property threatening to skin me and my family and burn our house down," she said in her petition. "He will come to my house yelling and screaming. Adam is upset about someone four-wheeling but we don't own a four-wheeler."
