New Lenox 'Machete Man' in Jail For Allegedly Bothering People Again

Someone claiming to be the New Lenox "Machete Man" wanted to talk about his arrest but he got locked up in jail before we could call him back.

The New Lenox "Machete Man" was arrested again and this time went to jail for once more bothering his neighbors, police said.

Adam Nelson, 30, of 2775 Daniel Lewis Drive was charged with violating the conditions of his bond, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was locked up in the Will County jail about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Nelson was out on bond following a July 12 arrest on charges of aggravated assault and criminal damage to property. A neighbor accused Nelson of showing up at her house with a machete.

"Adam got to our house and I saw a machete in his hands," the woman wrote in a petition for a protective order. "We got back into the house. Adam was standing in our driveway yelling that he was going to skin us and that he was going to burn our house down. He was banging the machete on my son's car."

The woman said she called the cops on Nelson more than once.

"The police have told me Adam is an alcoholic but this is not an excuse for him coming to my property threatening to skin me and my family and burn our house down," she said in her petition. "He will come to my house yelling and screaming. Adam is upset about someone four-wheeling but we don't own a four-wheeler."

The also woman said Nelson returned to her home after he was released on bond following his July 12 arrest and stared at her. Nelson violated his bond by driving past a neighbor's house, police said.

A caller claiming to be the "Machete Man in New Lenox" left a voicemail with Patch Sunday afternoon regarding the July 12 episode.

"If you want the real f---ing story about the f---ing Machete Man in New Lenox, why don't you give this number a call back?" the man said.

No one answered when the number was called back Monday morning, but Nelson would already have been in jail by that time.
