A New Lenox woman alerted the police to someone using her credit card without permission.

The woman went to the police station to report the credit card caper shortly after 5 p.m. Monday.

An officer was "dispatched to the station reference a complaint of credit card fraud," police said. "The complainant advised that an unknown subject used her credit card to make unauthorized purchases."

The matter was handed off to the New Lenox Police Department's investigations division.

1. Reporting this to the police? Why not report it to your credit card company - let them deal with it. 2. Why is the Patch reporting this?! News?

Credit card companies require you to file a police report.

Eric - that is just not true. I have had plenty of fraud on multiple accounts - personal and corporate. Never has a police report been requested.
