The New Lenox police pulled a New Year's Eve morning raid and arrested a local man for allegedly planning to deal drugs.

Gilbert Myers, 38, of 1212 E. Illinois Highway was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of cannabis.

The New Lenox police reportedly obtained a search warrant and hit Myers' home with it about 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Wow, in the past year I have read many police blotters regarding the drug dealers getting caught in New Lenox. This further proves what is/can be taking place right in the middle of a block/subdivision. If you have no problem with your neighbor selling cocaine and bringing crime to your neighborhood, your an idiot. Open your eyes people, it's your block/neighborhood too.

We do have to be aware of who is doing what in our neighborhood. If you see or hear something say something. You could save lives!

Steve T. is correct BUT cannabis is mostly harmless. Prohibition failed for alcohol the same way it is failing for drugs. Meth heads and crack heads will break into your car to get the money to support their habit. Pot heads mostly giggle and say silly stuff. As for possession of a controlled substance that could be ANYTHING that is prescribed and not in the prescription bottle. So this arrest is really over "pot".

I'm sorry that someone has to sell illegal drugs to increase their income to maintain their "better lifestyle". We all have bills to pay, mortgages to make, and most people do not sell drugs to earn extra income. What comes with selling drugs (pot, steroids, coke) out of one's home? Increased traffic down a residential street, shady idiots looking for a quick pick me up, and losers who need illegal drugs to handle their everyday life. Is there anyone out there that doesn't mind a drive-up operation in their family friendly neighborhood?? Anyone?
