New Lenox Cops Collar Wanted Women

A couple of wanted women were picked up by the New Lenox police.

The New Lenox cops nabbed a couple wanted women as they drove through town.

First, the police pulled over Lecean Mercer, 30, of 9936 S. State St. a little past noon Thursday near the corner of Gougar Road and Haven Avenue. An officer reportedly stopped her after noticing her registration was expired. And things got worse for Mercer from there.

"The officer conducted a stop and discovered that the driver had a suspended license and a warrant for her arrest," police said.

Mercer was wanted for allegedly failing to appear in Kankakee County court. She was released after posting bond.

Then, shortly after 5:15 p.m. Friday, a New Lenox police officer pulled over 40-year-old Rebecca Sevening near the corner of Haven Avenue and Prairie Road.

"The officer observed a vehicle that had no front license plate," police said. "The officer conducted a stop and discovered that the driver had a suspended license and a warrant for her arrest."

Sevening was wanted on a warrant out of Markham for allegedly failing to appear in court. She also was released after posting bond.
