To this point in 2011, thefts are up from 2010, and there are slightly more burglaries. A couple cases of interest that occurred this March included one of each.

A man on the 100 block of Towncrest Drive called police and said a friend of his daughter punched him in the face and stole morphine from the home. Police say that shortly before 9:30 p.m., Daniel Healy, 18, of Orland Park, came to the home and appeared intoxicated. Healy took a bottle of prescription medicine and punched the victim in the face when the victim tried to stop him, police said. Healy fled from the scene, and police were able to track him down and arrest him. He was taken to Will County Jail and charges were preferred to the State Attorney's Office.
