Man Punched in Face at American Legion; Police Blotter

DUI and retail theft wrap up police incidents.

DUI Charge

James Hanley, 32, Joliet, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and driving without car insurance on Saturday at Cedar Road and Route 30. According to the report, an anonymous caller complaining about an intoxicated driver stirred the traffic stop.

Hanley was stopped when police say they noticed him changing lanes without signaling and cutting off other drivers. He was ticketed and released.

Retail Theft at Jewel

Police say staff at the Jewel in the 2000 block of Laraway Road reported that two men came in and attempted to return what appeared to be stolen merchandise. The two left the scene before police arrived. The matter is under investigation.

Battery at American Legion

Police were called to the American Legion parking lot in the 14400 block of Ford Court on a battery complaint. A man at the scene said that while he was attempting to park his car, two men walked in front of the vehicle and he almost struck them.

According to the report, the driver and the two on foot argued. One of the walkers punched the driver in the face while he was still sitting in his car. Police are looking into the incident.
