Man Killed in Welding Accident in Joliet Township

The unidentified victim died at Silver Cross Hospital on Thursday afternoon.

A Joliet Township man has died from injuries he received in a welding accident Thursday.

The unidentified 52-year-old victim was cutting off the top of a 55-gallon drum when the substance inside exploded, sending the lid into the man's head, the Joliet Herald News is reporting.

The accident occurred inside the garage of a home in the 300 block of Fairmont, the story said.

The victim was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, where he was pronounced dead at 2:23 p.m.
