A Yorkville man convicted of killing a 10-year-old girl in a 1999 DUI accident was charged with driving under the influence again after police picked him up near New Lenox.

Glen R. Higginbotham Jr., 33, was charged on Dec. 25, 2011, with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, driving with unsafe tires, leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a revoked license.

According to the Will County Sheriff's Department, Higginbotham drove his truck into a parking lot with one tire off the rim, creating sparks. It was discovered shortly after that Higginbotham hit another car on New Lenox Road near Oakview Avenue, just west of the village. No one was injured in that accident.

But in 2000, according to court records, Higginbotham was sentenced to seven years in prison after he was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. According to the Chicago Tribune, that conviction was the result of the death of 10-year-old Candace Graham, who was a passenger in a car driven by her mother in Lockport.

Higginbotham is being held in Will County Jail in lieu of bail, which has been set at $35,000. He's scheduled to appear in court Jan. 18.
