Liquor Aisle Attracts Thief: Police Blotter

TUESDAY, JAN. 1

Booze and cigarettes stolen

Kwabena Aboagye, 25, Joliet, was charged with retail theft for allegedly stealing a pack of cigarettes from the 7-Eleven Convenience store on Laraway Road. Police say Aboagye was processed and released on a complaint for retail theft.

Police say staff at Jewel-Osco store, 2000 block of E. Laraway Road, filed a complaint for retail theft when they discovered an undetermined amount of alcohol had been stolen. The incident is under investigation.   

Driving on a suspended license

Erasmo Rodriguez, 35, Joliet, was stopped in his car at Laraway and Gougar Roads, after a random registration check showed that he was driving on a suspended license. He was issued citations for driving on a suspended license and for operating an uninsured vehicle.

MONDAY, DEC. 31

Christmas decorations broken

A resident of the 300 block of Rossford Lane notified police that some outdoor Christmas decorations had been damaged. A criminal damage to property complaint was filed.

Taillight knocked out

Police say someone from the 200 block of Bent Tree Lane filed a criminal damage to property complaint when she realized that the taillight on her vehicle had been broken. The matter is under investigation.

A double dose of suspended license violations

Velma Fairbairn, 41, Joliet, was stopped in her car at Route 6 and Gougar Road, for driving with an obstructed windshield. Police then discovered that she was also driving on a suspended license and operating an uninsured vehicle. Three citations were issued.

Joe Stafansko, 27, of the 200 block of Woodlawn Street, was spotted driving with one headlight out in the 400 block of Nelson Road. Police then discovered that he was driving on a revoked license. He was ticketed for both violations.
