Judge Pulls Back Former Bailiff's Child Porn Prison Sentence

A former bailiff sentenced to three years behind bars for possessing child pornography won't have to go to prison after all.

A former bailiff sentenced to three years in prison for possessing child pornography won't have to go to the big house after all.

Will County Judge Sarah Jones, who handed down the prison sentence to 63-year-old Jerome Henry in August, changed course after defense attorney George Lenard filed a motion to reconsider.

Less than two months after ordering Henry off to prison, Jones changed the sentence to 147 days in the county jail, three years probation, 130 hours of public service and $2,999 in fines and costs.

Henry was released from jail the same day his sentence was modified. The 130 hours of public service was later waived.

Henry is a registered sex offender but there is no photograph accompanying his listing on the state database.

Henry formerly worked as a bailiff in the Will County courthouse.

In his motion to reconsider, Lenard said Henry "feels the sentence is excessive" and that it was "not in keeping with (his) past history of criminality, mental history, family situation, economic status, and occupational or personal habits."
