Joliet Ex-Con Arrested After Cops Catch Him Sitting Around New Lenox: Police

The ex-convict was wanted for allegedly violating his parole and is already back in prison.

A Joliet ex-convict wanted for allegedly violating his parole was arrested when the cops caught him sitting around in New Lenox, police said.

Scott Smith, 47, of 315 Stone St. was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Sunday by the Church Street Metra station.

An "officer observed Smith sitting on the side of a business near the Metra station," police said. "While trying to assist Smith with transportation to a shelter, the officer conducted a check on Smith and discovered that he had a warrant for his arrest."

Smith was taken to the Will County jail Sunday and shipped off to Stateville Correctional Center the very same day.

Smith was on parole after doing time for a felony domestic battery conviction. He also pulled a hitch in prison for a drug conviction.
