Cases of Interest
On Jan. 5, a resident reported that the social security number of a household member was being used fraudulently. Police found a person using the social security number for employment purposes at a temp agency. Karina Hernandez, 42, of Chicago, was arrested in Cicero and charged with identity theft.
A two-month investigation led Will and Cook county authorities to arrest Brandon Bergthold, of Frankfort, after he set up a meeting with an undercover officer who posed as a father prostituting out his daughter. The sting took place at a New Lenox motel.

Someone stole $1,900 in cash and checks from New Lenox's Petals & Twigs, which is operated by Trinity Services.
