Take the Booze, Leave the Heroin

July 11: Careless people typically fail to remember a wallet or purse when heading to the store and not that they have heroin in their pocket.

Bail was set at $20,000 for an Orland Park woman allegedly found with heroin after trying to walk out of a Frankfort grocery store with a cart full of booze. Lisa N. Skrobanski, 29, of the 13600 block of South 84th Avenue, was booked into Will County jail by Frankfort police.
Skrobanski faces several drug-related charges, including felony possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor charges for having drug needles and other equipment, according to Will County records. Frankfort police said Skrobanski had a substance that field tested positive for heroin when she was stopped at Dominick's, 19965 S La Grange Rd. She had tried to walk out of the store with about $240 worth of alcohol in a cart without paying for it.

Skrobanski is due on Aug. 2 in Will County court on the felony charge.

Risky Move Blows Up in Man's Face

July 11:
A Chicago man allegedly gave a fake name to Evergreen Park police that matched a different man wanted by the law.

Tory Walker, 44, of the 900 block of West 54th Street, was charged with obstructing identification, according to an Evergreen Park police report.
Police spoke with Walker when he and another person at Walmart, 2500 W 95th St., were stopped because of a disturbance in the store.

The name and date of birth Walker told police was actually for someone who was wanted on an arrest warrant, police said. He was taken into custody. A check of his fingerprints determined he wasn't the guy wanted by the law.

The second person involved in the disturbance, Latonia R. Cooper, 43, of the 11300 block of South Union, Chicago, also was arrested. Cooper is accused of yelling profanities at store employees and was charged with disorderly conduct.
Evergreen Park police were already at Walmart investigating a separate retail theft incident when the disturbance happened, according to a report.

Dolton Man in Real Trouble after Bust for Fake Cash

July 9:
On a run for the border, it's probably best to use real money. How this guy got away with using fake cash twice in a Taco Bell drive-through, we'll never know.

Quantavious Jones, 22, of the 15200 block of Dorchester, Dolton, was charged with two counts of theft of labor or services, according to a report. Police said Jones used fake $20 bills to buy food at Taco Bell, 17601 Halsted St. He reportedly went through the drive-thru window twice and paid for a small drink each time with fake money. The Man Really Had To Pee

June 30:
A man was charged with DUI, speeding and underage consumption and possession of alcohol at 12:43 a.m. Sunday. Police said that Jose Dejesus was traveling 54mph in a 35mph zone when an officer pulled him over. When the officer asked if Dejesus knew how fast he was going, he allegedly said he had to go to the bathroom. The officer asked for ID, and Dejesus showed his military ID, stating that his driver’s license was taken when he’d received a speeding ticket on June 16 in Willow Springs, which he showed to the officer, police said.
According to the report, Dejesus's eyes appeared bloodshot and he smelled like alcohol. Dejesus denied that he had been drinking and was asked to get out of his car.

Police said that Dejesus failed field sobriety tests. Stating that he "really had to pee," the officer allowed him to urinate behind an evergreen bush. After three attempts at a breath test, the first two where Dejesus tongue was covering the mouthpiece, he blew a .160, reports said.

Dejesus allegedly admitted to having a couple of mixed drinks at a friend’s house. He was placed under arrest. When the officer searched the car, he found an open and nearly empty 750mL bottle of Don Julio tequila in the trunk, reports said. Dejesus is due in court in Bridgeview on July 18.
