Ex-Cop Pleads Guilty to Fiery Crash in New Lenox
An ex-Orland Hills cop pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI in connection with a 2010 crash on Interstate 80 near New Lenox, Sun-Times Media reports.
An ex-Orland Hills cop pleaded guilty Friday to felony charges for aggravated DUI in connection with a 2010 crash on Interstate 80 near New Lenox.
Robert C. Caputo, 62, faces 15 years in prison for the death of a 20-year-old DaVon Pitts, of Homewood, the Sun-Times Media reports. Will County Judge Edward Bumila set the sentencing hearing for June 25.
On Sept. 12, 2010, Pitts was fixing a flat tire while parked on the left shoulder of eastbound Interstate-80. Caputo, who was driving a pick-up truck, struck the vehicle. Pitt's car was forced into a ditch, where it burst into flames.
