2 Taken to Hospital After I-80 Accident

Traffic is stopped on Interstate 80 after a semi truck going west crossed the median and collided with another car, a witness said.

A semi truck collided with another car Monday morning on Interstate 80, closing down lanes and sending two people to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.

According to a witness on the scene, a truck headed westbound blew out a tire and crossed the median, hitting a car that was moving east. The accident occurred just east of Gougar Road in New Lenox.

The witness said an infant was removed from the car and appeared to be OK. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital, but the witness said she appeared conscious.

this may have never happened if there were gaurd rails between the east & west bound lanes. I always drive far right lane just for this reason.
