Drug Raid by New Lenox Police Nets Heroin, 2 Arrests

Jerald D. Shumpert, 38, and Ashley N. Gant, 25, are charged with possessing heroin, according to a report. Shumpert also faces a charge of having a potentially vicious dog by a felon.

A Lockport man is accused of housing a potentially vicious dog and possessing heroin after police raided his home.

A drug investigation by New Lenox and Will County police led them to a house in the 200 block of Nobes Avenue in Lockport, where heroin and money were seized, Sun-Times Media reports.

Jerald D. Shumpert, 38, who lives at the house police raided, is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a vicious dog by a felon, according to Will County Sheriff's Office records. He also was charged with drug possession earlier this year.

Shumpert's live-in girlfriend, Ashley N. Gant, 25, also was charged with possessing heroin, according to the report.
