Drivers Driving Under the Influence in New Lenox: Cops

The police said one man was under the influence of marijuana and the other was drunk.

The New Lenox police nabbed a pair of allegedly intoxicated drivers over the weekend.

First, about 12:15 a.m. Friday, the cops reportedly pulled over a 22-year-old Orland Park man, in the 800 block of West Route 30.

An "officer observed a vehicle driving without headlights," police said. "The officer conducted a stop and could detect the odor of cannabis. The officer discovered that the driver was under the influence of cannabis, was in possession of cannabis and drug equipment."

The man was charged with driving under the influence, driving without headlights, possession of cannabis and possession of drug equipment. He was released after posting bond.

Then, about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, the police pulled over 25-year-old Joseph Torpy of 876 Spinnaker Drive in New Lenox. Torpy was stopped near the intersection of Haven Avenue and Prairie Road.

An "officer observed a vehicle disobey a traffic control device," police said. "The officer conducted a stop and discovered that the driver, Torpy was under the influence of alcohol. The officer discovered that Torpy was in possession of cannabis and drug equipment."

Torpy was charged with driving under the influence, possession of cannabis, possession of drug equipment and disobeying a traffic control device. He was released after posting bond.
