Downed Power Line Slows Route 30 Traffic

Construction crews doing utility work along Route 30 hit a power line that slowed traffic for a couple hours Friday afternoon.

A fallen power line slowed Route 30 traffic for a few hours Friday afternoon as a construction crew worked to resolve the issue.

A crew that was digging utility lines along Route 30 near the Target and Lowe's just east of Schoolhouse Road in New Lenox hit a power line, which fell onto the road. The construction was part of the massive Route 30 widening project that began earlier this summer.

New Lenox police and fire, as well as members of the construction crew, directed traffic through the New Lenox Retail Center, causing a long line of traffic that snaked its way through the parking lot and out to Joliet Highway.
