Credit Card Swindlers Tap into Accounts: Police Blotter

Fraud complaints topped the list of New Lenox police investigations in the first week of February. A total of five separate incidents were reported. 

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 6

Unauthorized account opened for Dish Network

Someone from the 100 block of Charleston Drive filed a complaint that an unauthorized account was opened using his name at Dish Network.

Swindlers charge $300 to credit card

A resident of the 2700 block of Bay Court told police that someone made about $300 worth of purchases without his permission.

Thieves racked up $50 in credit card charges

Police are investigating a fraud complaint from someone in the 1500 block of Monarch Drive. A total of $50 was charged for unauthorized purchases.

MONDAY, FEB. 4

Multiple lines of credit opened

A resident from the 800 block of Brad Drive told police that someone had opened multiple lines of credit, using his name. 

Fraudulent Comcast account opened

A resident in the 700 block of Amber Road filed a complaint when she discovered that someone had illegally opened an account with Comcast, using her name.
