Credit Card Plot Foiled: Police Blotter

Someone tried to buy three pre-paid credit cards, using a fraudulent credit card.

THURSDAY, NOV. 8

Speeding and driving on a suspended license

Brent Gaston, 25, Lockport, was spotted speeding in his car at Nelson and Shagbark Roads. A registration check, police said, indicated that he was also driving on a suspended license. He was issued two tickets.

Battery complaint

Police say an 18-year-old student from the McKay Center, a Lincoln-Way Area Special Education District 843 facility in the 500 block of S. Cedar Road, was arrested for battery.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 7

Jewelry heist

Police say someone from the 1000 block of S. Cedar Road, filed a complaint about a stolen necklace, the value of which was not reported.  According to the report, the necklace was stolen in August from a woman's apartment.

MONDAY, NOV. 5

Credit card plot foiled

According to the police report, staff at Walmart in the 500 block of E. Route 30 stopped a plot by someone attempting to use a fraudulent credit card to purchase three pre-paid credit cards. The customer, police said, was attempting to put $1,000 on each of the pre-paid cards. The customer had left the store before autorities were notified. The incident is under investigation.
