Convicted Hater Arrested Again For Alleged Battery But Not For Hating This Time

A Frankfort man convicted of a hate crime for menacing a neighbor was bothering more people, police said.

A Frankfort man already convicted of a hate crime for spewing racial epithets at a neighbor is in trouble again for allegedly screaming at and spitting on people.

Richard Cyplik, 28, of 7759 W. Emerald Court in Frankfort Township was arrested about 10 p.m. Nov. 9.

Deputies sent to Cyplik's street reportedly saw him screaming and shouting at three men, ages 36, 48 and 59.

The 48-year-old told deputies he was walking his dog when he saw Cyplik screaming at two of his neighbors, said sheriff's department spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer.

The dog walker approached and Cyplik told him to mind his "own f---ing business," and then spat in his face, police said.

The two neighbors were not sure why Cyplik was "screaming and hollering" at them, but told them "they needed to move out and he was threatening to kick their asses," police said.

Less than two weeks before the incident, Cyplik was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to a felony hate crime charge.

Cyplik was living in Mokena when he caught the case in June. He was charged with aggravated battery and criminal damage to property in addition to the hate crime for brandishing a knife and shouting racial slurs at a new neighbor and a man helping the neighbor move into his home. Both men were black.

Cyplik reportedly tangled with one of the men. His girlfriend reportedly broke up the fight.

As part of his sentence for the hate crime, Cyplik was to receive medical and mental treatment, according to court records.
