Blotter: NL Men Get DUIs in Joliet, Mokena

DUI Alleged

David A. Balog, 51, of the 1400 block of Andrea Drive in New Lenox, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police responded to an accident at the intersection of LaPorte Road and Brightway Drive, Mokena police said.

The officer could smell alcohol on Balog's breath, according to the report, and Balog failed field sobriety tests. Balog was cited for the accident and for driving too fast for conditions. He was released on bond pending a court date in Joliet.

THURSDAY, APRIL 14

DUI After Accident

The Will County Sheriff's Department said Michael Kolodziej, 50, of the 700 block of Bon Terre Road in New Lenox, was driving drunk when he hit a parked car on West Laraway Road and left the scene.

Kolodziej was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, the failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and leaving the scene of an accident. According to the sheriff's department, Kolodziej said he might have been texting while driving.
