$1,200 Fraudulent Check Cleared at Currency Exchange: Police Blotter

The New Lenox Currency Exchange loses $1,200 in a deceptive practices incident.

Fraudulent check saps $1,200 from small business

Police say they were called to New Lenox Currency Exchange in the 300 block of W. Route 30 in regard to a bad check. According to the report, someone cashed a fraudulent check for $1,200. A deceptive practices complaint was filed. Police are investigating the incident.

Bicycle stolen

Police say someone complained that a bicycle was stolen from the 700 block of Plank Road. Police are investigating the matter.

MONDAY, NOV. 26

Trio of Tickets

Richard Taksas, 54, Lockport, was stopped by police at Route 6 and Silver Cross Boulevard after blowing a red light. According to the report, police spotted him go through a red light and pulled him over. A computer check revealed that he was also driving on a suspended license and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Speeding and suspended license violations

Tina Cullen, 30, of the 1000 block of Southgate Street, was stopped by police at Illinois Highway and Prairie Avenue for speeding. A computer check of her license indicated that it had been suspended. She was issued two tickets.

Random registration check snags motorist 

Michael Tarcak, 44, of the 100 block of Walona Avenue, was stopped by police at Schoolhouse Road and Route 30. According to the report, a random registration check showed that he was driving on a suspended license.

Driving on a suspended license

Tameka Wells, 35, Chicago Heights, was stopped in her car at Gougar Road and Route 30 after a random registration check revealed that she was driving on a suspended license. She was ticketed for the violation.  

Purse stolen from hospital room

Police say a woman filed a complaint that her purse was stolen from her room at Silver Cross Hospital, 1900 Silver Cross Blvd. Police are investigating the incident.
