Ecumenical Fellowship Good Friday Walk of the Cross

Many denominations including over 500 people joined together in the symbolic walk of Jesus to Calvary.

Friday, April 6, 2012

The traditional Good Friday Walk of the Cross, sponsored by the New Lenox Ministerial Association, took place today on a brisk but sunny morning. Many denominations joined together in the symbolic walk of Jesus to Calvary, following a large wooden cross (7' x 5') carried by members from various churches. Over 500 walkers followed the cross, sang hymns, listened to homilies and prayed at each of the following: St. Jude Church, United Methodist Church, Maplewood Cemetery and ended at Trinity Lutheran Church at around noon.

Leading us today in ecumenical fellowship:
Fr. Don Lewandowski, Fr. Don Bates & Fr. Bill Sullivan, St. Jude Catholic Church
Pastors Dave Hedlin and Stan Bockwoldt, Peace Lutheran Church
Pastors Jay Carr and Sarah Hong, United Methodist Church of New Lenox
Rev. Doug Hoag, Trinity Lutheran Church
Pastor Jim McGuire, Joliet Area Community Hospice
Pastor Jeff Robinson, Lincolnway Christian Church
Roger Visker, New Life Christian Reformed Church
Pastor Ellen Ekevag, Grace Episcopal Church

Note: The New Lenox Ministerial Association creates ecumenical fellowship among the many churches in the Lincoln Way Community, working together as a team and supporting one another on behalf of our Lord.
