Obit: Lester P. Farrelly Jr., 25, Killed by Metra Train

The Farrelly Foundation was established April 3, two days after the death of Lester P. Farrelly Jr., a 25-year-old Lincoln-Way Central High School graduate, who was killed April 1 when he was struck by an eastbound Metra train at Townline Road. 

The memory page of the foundation website, which was established by Lester's twin brother, James, is intended to support twins for whom separation has been forced by unforeseen circumstances. 

James Farrelly writes: "There is nothing that can replace the memory, the kinship or love of a sibling. A twin is a partner, a sister a brother."

James refers to his twin as the "better half." He writes: "For those that know Lester, his positive energy, up-lifting attitude and contagious smile knew no bounds."

Obituary details:

Farrelly Jr., Lester P. Age 25, late of New Lenox, IL, suddenly entered eternal life April 1, 2013. Beloved son of Lester P. Farrelly Sr. and Joanne Farrelly (nee Olson); Loving brother of Daniel and his twin James; Caring grandson of Patricia (late James) Farrelly, and the late Clarence and Virginia Olson; Caring nephew and cousin to many, especially the late James T. Farrelly, Richard Olson, and Joseph Olson.

Born March 19, 1988-April 1, 2013

Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. April 4 Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 S. Wolf Road, Mokena. Prayers at the funeral home are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. April 5.  

The funeral is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at St. Christina Catholic Church, 111th and Homan, Chicago. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 6001 W. 111th St., in Alsip.
