What are your favorite Halloween Traditions?

Halloween

In my family fall is our favorite time of year.  We look forward to celebrating Halloween. Our favorite traditions include "The Great Pumpkin", Jack-O-Lanterns, and trick or treating.

"The Great Pumpkin" is a tradition we recently started where we choose 10 candies we receive from trick or treating and get to keep those, the rest go in a big bowl and we place it outside.  "The Great Pumpkin" comes to take the candy and leaves us all a small present.  I hope I get Legos this year. I'm not sure where the candy goes but my mom says that it's probably donated.

We always cut open our pumpkins on Halloween Eve (the night before Halloween). We first choose a design that my dad can carve. Last year was Oogie Boogie from Nightmare before Christmas, that was so cool.  This year me and my brother and sister picked out Phineas and Ferb.  I am going to try to carve it all by myself this year.

We go trick or treating every year with our family.  My mom and dad, brothers and sister, and even my uncle and cousin go with.  My grandparents always come over so they can hand out candy to our trick or treators. My grandpa thinks he is funny and sometimes gives kids rocks like in the cartoon "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown". He then laughs and gives them candy. After trick or treating we go back home for dinner.

These are just some of the reasons why I love Halloween. I think next year we will add a new tradition of apple picking, too. There are so many fun ways to celebrate Halloween.
