New Lenox Fire Protection District Offering Babysitting Academy

New Lenox Fire Protection District (NLFPD) will once again be offering a Babysitting Academy for New Lenox residents’ ages 11 to 16. The academy will be offered on July 29, 30, and 31st. Each day class will begin at 8 am and end at noon.

 

During the course the students will learn how to properly care for infants and children of different ages and stages, activities they can do while babysitting, and will have a visitor from the New Lenox Public Library teaching how to read to children. In addition they will learn fire safety, stranger danger with a New Lenox Police Department Officer, fire extinguisher training, and will become certified in CPR and First Aid.

Registration forms may be picked up at the NLFPD office located at 261 E. Maple Street. The fee for the course is $35 which includes course materials, hand outs, and a babysitter handbook. Class size is limited and NLFPD residents are given priority. For more information please call Marisa Schrieber, Public Education Coordinator at (815) 463-4500.
