New Lenox Fire Protection District and New Lenox Police Department Compete to Collect Food and Raise Money for New Lenox Food Pantry

New Lenox Fire Protection District (NLFPD) and New Lenox Police Department (NLPD) will be competing in the 5th Annual Guns n’ Hoses Charity softball game at 4 p.m. on September 7th, at the Lion’s Den Fields located at 520 S. Cedar Road in New Lenox.

The sole mission of the event is to raise money and food for the New Lenox Food Pantry. With a slow moving economy, many residents in the area are utilizing the food pantry to help feed their families.

This is the fifth year for the event. The winning team receives a traveling trophy that has yet to travel to the fire station. The NL “Finest” have beaten the NL “Bravest” in the game the previous four years!

“We would love to see the stands filled with residents supporting the cause and cheering for their favorite team,” said NLFPD Chief Jon Mead. “Although we hope we finally get to take the trophy back to the fire district, we really want the food pantry to be the big winner.”

The primary mission of the New Lenox Fire and Ambulance Protection District is to provide a range of programs designed to protect the lives and property within New Lenox Village and Township from the effects for fires and sudden medical emergencies or exposure to dangerous conditions created by man or nature with professional, compassionate, and quality service.
