Provena Medical Group Welcomes Three New Family Practice Physicians and an Internist to Their State-of-the-Art Healing Arts Pavilion

Internist Latha Arla, D.O., and Family Practice physicians Sylvia Beach, M.D., Crystal Hines-Mays, M.D., and Adam Cohen-Lewe, D.O., are the newest doctors to join Provena Medical Group’s state-of-the-art Healing Arts Pavilion. Located at 410 East Lincoln Highway (Route 30 near Cooper Rd.), the Healing Arts Pavilion opened in June 2012 and was designed to enhance medical care for people of all ages. The 45,000-square-foot facility is home to an immediate care center for fast medical attention; physician offices offering primary care doctors and specialists in cardiology, pediatrics, and geriatrics; and high-level diagnostic services.

Dr. Arla is a board certified internal medicine physician specializing in diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, older adult health, and women’s health. “Each patient is unique, and it’s important to show compassion to the disease process, and the individual’s needs,” said Dr. Arla. She earned her medical degree from Des Moines University Medical School, and completed her residency in general medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She enjoys helping patients learn to live a healthy lifestyle. She is on staff at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center.

Also on staff at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center is Dr. Beach, a board certified family practice physician focusing on disease prevention, patient education, and close monitoring and follow-up of existing illnesses. She has gained a special interest in bioidentical hormone replacement and natural health supplements in addition to family medicine. She earned her medical degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine, and completed her residency at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Illinois. “I take the approach of engaging each person individually and empowering them to live their best life,” said Dr. Beach.

Dr. Hines-Mays is board certified in family medicine and earned her medical degree from University of Illinois-Chicago, and completed her residency at Advocate Christ Hospital, Oak Lawn. Her clinical interests include all age pediatrics, urgent care, adult medicine, gynecology, geriatrics, and occupational medicine. “I partner with my patients to encourage the prevention of medical disease and to address all their medical concerns,” said Dr. Hines-Mays. Dr. Hines Mays has many years of training and experience in occupational and urgent care medicine.

Dr. Cohen-Lewe is board certified in family medicine and osteopathic manipulative treatment. He earned his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed two residencies at Eastern Maine Medical Center and Plus-One Neuroskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. Dr. Cohen-Lewe’s clinical interests include osteopathic manipulative medicine and complementary alternative medicine. “As an osteopathic physician, I believe a person is a dynamic unit of mind, body, and spirit,” he said.
