Marist High School Girls Win Midlothian Country Club Challenge

The inaugural Midlothian Country Club Challenge, with girl’s golf teams from six local area high schools competing for team and individual honors, was played at Midlothian CC on Saturday, Aug 25th.

Midlothian, IL – Sept. 4, 2012 – The inaugural Midlothian Country Club Challenge, with girl’s golf teams from six local area high schools competing for team and individual honors, was played at Midlothian Country Club on Saturday, August 25th. The event was won by the host Marist Red Hawks with a team score of 406. Mother McAuley finished second with a combined score of 415 and Marian Catholic finished in third place with a combined score of 416.

Stagg High School finished in fourth place with a combined score of 420 with Nazareth finishing 5th and Fenwick High School finishing 6th.

Individual Medalist honors went to Bree Veazey from Marian Catholic High School with an 18 hole score of even par 73. Nina Nicpon of Marian finished second with an 84 and Taylor Lambertson of Stagg High School finished third with a score of 89.

The winner of a closest-to-the-pin contest on Midlothian’s 12th hole was Anna Rafanelli of Nazareth and the long drive winner was Bree Veazey from Marian Catholic High School.

For the girl’s tournament, the historic U.S. Open golf course at Midlothian Country Club played at 5,389 yards and a par of 73. Midlothian Country Club was founded in 1898 and was the site of the 1914 U.S. Open Championship, won by Walter Hagen. For more information on Marist High School athletics, visit www.marist.net.
