Manhattan-New Lenox TRIAD Announces April Meeting "Important Things You Should Know"

Manhattan-New Lenox TRIAD would like to invite senior citizens (age fifty and up) to their monthly meeting on April 25th, 2013 at 1:30pm, New Lenox Village Hall Community Room, #1 Veterans Parkway.

The Manhattan-New Lenox TRIAD would like to invite senior citizens (age fifty and up) from the area to attend their monthly meeting on Thursday, April 25th, 2013 at 1:30pm, at the New Lenox Village Hall Community Room, Number One Veterans Parkway.

No registration or membership is required to attend TRIAD meetings.   The Manhattan-New Lenox TRIAD meetings are on the fourth Thursday of each month at 1:30pm at the New Lenox Village Hall Community Room. 

TRIAD meetings are for all senior citizens in and around our community area.

For the month of April we will be hearing from: 

  • Kathy Claver, Senior Citizen Representative from the New Lenox Park District.  Kathy will be explaining the many programs/services that the Park District has to offer to our area senior citizens.   Kathy will also be speaking in regards to the new “Summer Program” booklet that has just been released. 
  • James Brown, FF/EMT-ID, New Lenox Fire Protection District.   James will be explaining the residential “Knox Box” program that is offered by the fire department.  The program is in place to provide a quick entry into a residence in the event they cannot answer the door because of a medical condition or physical disability while minimizing or eliminating property damage. 
  • Officer Aurena Davis of the New Lenox Police Department.   Officer Davis will be explaining the senior citizen safe driving class that is being offered by the New Lenox Police Department in May of 2013.  The course is a valuable tool in refreshing your knowledge of Illinois driving laws etc...                                           

In addition to the valuable information from the Park District, Fire and Police Departments we are happy to announce that the locally well-known band “The Joe Williams Quartet” will be playing at the end of our speaking part of the program that day.  The “Joe Williams Quartet”  is comprised of seniors who live in the New Lenox area.   The band will be playing all types of music from “The Great American Song Book”, the Swing Era, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.  Please come out to enjoy, sing along and even dance along to the music.  Lets celebrate SPRING.

The Manhattan-New Lenox TRIAD is excited to announce that New Lenox Community Television will be there to video-tape and air the presentation on Channel Six our New Lenox Community Television channel.   So if you cannot make the meeting, please check out the Channel Six scheduling for date and time of airing in April.  

The Will County TRIAD for Senior Citizens is run by Sheriff Paul Kaupas and the Will County Sheriff’s Police.    TRIAD means a three-way commitment among local and county law enforcement and senior citizens.  They agree to work together to reduce the criminal victimization of the elderly and enhance the delivery of law enforcement services to older persons.    A major purpose of TRIAD is to develop, expand and implement effective crime prevention and education programs for senior citizens in our community. 

 What and who is TRIAD of Will County and TRIAD of Manhattan-New Lenox? 

  • TRIAD is cooperation between law enforcement agencies and senior citizens.
  • TRIAD strives to reduce criminal victimization of older persons
  • TRIAD assesses the needs and concerns of older citizens.
  • TRIAD leads to a broad dialogue on safety and security issues
  • TRIAD is the link with elderly members of the community.

The Manhattan-New Lenox TRIAD has added representatives from the New Lenox Fire District, the Manhattan Police and Manhattan Fire Department, the New Lenox Park District, New Lenox Public Library, New Lenox Community Television Channel, New Lenox Township Offices to inform and empower the senior citizens of our community by providing information regarding their health and safety.
