The annual ShareFest volunteering event has grown significantly over the years, and this year will again feature "11 Days of Giving."
ShareFest is an annual event that brings together hundreds of volunteers to work on service projects throughout New Lenox and help others in need through various collections.
This year, the event promises to be bigger and better than ever, in part because it's calling for donations outside of just one weekend and creating "11 Days of Giving." The regular collection drives—including books, food, items for the troops and more—will expand outside of one weekend and last from Sept. 1-11.
HOW TO USE THE MAP: Click on an icon on the map for more details about where you can donate items, including locations, times and what's being collected. The following locations are participating in the drives:
- , , , , the and will be collection points for food, items for troops, clothing and books from Sept. 1-11.
- is a dropoff point for household items, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 1-11.
- is the "main event" from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. It will feature larger collection spots and exchanges for clothing and books.
- , , and are all locations of food drives from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 and Saturday, Sept. 15.

Cheney said he needs as many as 500 volunteers, and he'll talk to each person interested to know what area they'd like to help and when they're available.
