Various social service agencies in the community refer local children to the program. The officers, cadets and employees of the Police Department donate their time to assist the children on a Christmas shopping spree.

This year more than 50 children, ranging in age from 6 to 13, were able to enjoy the fun filled day.

The event kicked off with a parade led by the police department to the New Lenox Kmart and was followed by a visit with Santa. The officers then assisted the children with their purchases.

Once the shopping was complete, everyone returned to New Lenox Village Hall for a pizza party and to wrap of gifts.

Officers and employees of the Police Department conducted a year-long fundraiser to collect additional funds for this event. This year the donations were used to purchase gift certificates for a Christmas dinner for each family.
