Lincoln-Way Central Student Receives Letter From First Lady Michelle Obama

"I was shocked," Lincoln-Way Central junior DaJonah Moton said.

From Lincoln-Way High School District:

DaJonah Moton got a big surprise last week after completing her assignment for her civics class on who is a good citizen.

The Lincoln-Way Central junior was called to her civics teacher Donna Opoka’s office and given a letter addressed to her. She thought it was another part of the assignment she had written for her civics class.

“I was shocked," DaJonah said. "The envelope said 'White House.' So I opened it with my teacher and it was from Michelle Obama, the First Lady.

“Our teacher had us write a letter to a person we thought was a good citizen, a person who is an inspiration to us," DaJonah said. "I never expected I would get a letter back.”
