Tour the New Silver Cross Hospital

Silver Cross Hospital invites the community to its housewarming party to celebrate the new location in New Lenox.

The party is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at 1900 Silver Cross Blvd. in New Lenox (at Interstate 355 and Route 6).

Parking will be available onsite with complimentary trolley shuttle service to the main entrance.

Take a Tour

Guests may take a 45-minute tour through several areas in the hospital including the emergency department, imaging, The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, private medical-surgical patient rooms, Women and Infant Services Birthing Center, Intensive Care Unit, and the new Procedural Care Unit, which consolidates surgery, endoscopy and interventional cardiology and radiology procedures into one integrated area.

Visitors will also be able to see the hospital’s newest technology—the Davinci, which is a robotic surgical system designed to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach. The system is controlled by a surgeon from a console and commonly used for  prostatectomies, cardiac valve repair and gynecologic surgical procedures.

Entertainment, Contests and Slammers Trophy

Guests will have an opportunity to win a Sony Bloggie Touch video camera by entering the “Name the Robot” Contest.

The winner of the $1,000 Save Your Baby’s Due Date drawing will be announced, and there will plenty of musical entertainment and performance artists including:

• the Sandburg High School Choir from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.;
• Joliet Folk Lorico Dancers from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.;
• Lincoln-Way West High School Choir from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.; and
• the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Music Ministry from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.

At the end of the tour, participants can meet the Joliet Slammers’ mascots, Spikes and J.L. Bird, and view the 2011 Frontier League Championship Cup.
