New Lenox Community Band Concert

            The New
Lenox Community Band is preparing to present its final concert of the season, “From
Screen to Concert Hall.” The concert will take place on Sunday August 25th
at the beautiful New Lenox Performing Arts Pavilion. The concert will begin at
8pm. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair! The program will include fantastic music
from current and classic movies, including “Les Miserables,” and “Alladin.”
Special guest conductors for the concert include Eric Wellman, band director at
Lincoln-Way Central High School, and Charles Stark, retired music teacher and
administrator from Lincoln-Way District 210. Admission to the concert is FREE,
and concessions are available for purchase.

            The
community band concert will begin immediately after the Lincoln-Way Central
Marching Knights and the Lincoln-Way West Marching Warriors conclude their
performances. The marching bands will present their traditional parade music as
well as portions of their 2013 competitive productions.

            The New
Lenox Community Band is in its 8th season. The 50-piece concert band
is comprised of adults from New Lenox and over 16 of the surrounding
communities. Members of the band come from many different professions: teachers
and administrators, doctors, engineers, therapists, machinists, and students. Rehearsals
for the band take place on Sundays throughout the summer at Lincoln-Way West
High School, in New Lenox. The band is under the direction of Daniel Romano and
Cary Ruklic.
