Heartsaver First Aid Course

Heartsaver First Aid Course (LLC 3801)

The Heartsaver First Aid course uses the American Heart Association guidelines to train lay rescuers how to respond during a first aid emergency.  Participants learn the steps for medical injury and environmental emergencies, including how to assess the situation, calling for 911, and how to properly protect themselves from blood-borne pathogens.  First aid topics include breathing emergencies, allergic reactions and use of epinephrine pens, chest pain, heart attack, fainting, diabetes, stroke, seizures and shock.  Students will learn how to deal with bleeding emergencies, fractures, burns, poisoning, and hot and cold emergencies.  Upon completion of the course, a first aid card that is good for two years will be issued to the participants.
